Well, I have yet another reason to hate Pocatello! The day before we were supposed to leave to head out to Cali we got in an accident like ten minutes into the drive, on a Friday around 5:00 p.m. It was snowing and icy; we were going over a bridge/overpass when a truck pulling snowmobiles in a trailer pulled out in front of us. When the brakes were applied, there was no traction and we slid into the trailer. The airbags went off and it put spun us around so that we were just off the road facing the wrong way. There were four other wrecks within a couple miles of us and since there weren't any injuries on our part, we were last on the list. Luckily a nice couple from Shelley pulled over and let me sit in their car while Rocky tried to take care of things. It was snowing so much and the wind was blowing. It was just awful. The cop gave the other guy a ticket; it was his fault and we thought everything would be fine. Not so much...
Also, that day, we'd just found out that we were having a baby girl and had to go to the hospital to make sure was ok. I don't think the airbag hit me/my stomach because Rocky put his arm out and held me back. The only noticeable physical thing that happened is I got a bruise on my left shin. I tried to take a picture of it but the picture is pretty dark and it's hard to see. I still have the bruise, almost 3 weeks later.
Since it was the weekend, it was hard to get in contact with the insurance and we needed a rental car and get out to Cali because we were scheduled to move into our new place Monday and Rocky to start at his job Tuesday. We didn't get a rental until late Saturday. Since it was going out-of-state, it was a lot more money & we had 24 hours to get a different rental car; otherwise we were going to be charged for another day. We had to go to the airport to find the open car rental since it was Sunday; the first car rental we stopped at closed at noon and it was around 12:30 when we pulled in! Beyond frustrating! The only good part out of the whole rental thing has been that we got a free upgrade to a Chrysler 300. We got to drive it for almost a week before we came in and got a cheaper car. It was fun to be in this super nice car.
Well, to fast forward a little bit, they decided to total the car because it was $700 over the amount they'd cover. If the airbags wouldn't have went off, it would've been fixed no problem. It's too late now, it's probably a crushed box of metal now :'(. We hadn't even had it 6 months. It's very disappointing because I've wanted the car for 2 years. We were finally able to upgrade and get it. We'd bought it in October. We've had to try to take care of things from Cali and it's been frustrating! We're lucky our family members were helping out a LOT otherwise things would've been more stressful. Things pretty much had to be taken care of as soon as possible, we had to settle because we couldn't wait for the other insurance company to cooperate. The guy was planning on fighting the ticket anyway and it's probably going to end up being a 50/50 on who was at fault; so a "I take care of mine, you take care of yours" type of thing.
As for now, we're still in a rental car, now a Chevy Cobalt, and we're trying to figure out how to get my little grey car out here. I am looking forward to this ordeal being over with; that's pretty much all I can say. Insurance is so infuriating!!! It's like we can't get any support from that side of it! It's been hard! Anyways, it's time to move on from it! Once again though, I hate Pocatello!!
